I live in Dublin now. I have been here since August 2010. Probably a lot of people know that nowadays the weather is snowy and freezing around the Europe. So Ireland/Dublin too.
I'm student in Dublin. One day, I went to school in the morning as usual. After the school I went to bus stop and started to wait for my bus. If it is necessary I can say the weather was freezing! I think, I waited for one and half an hour. But the bus didn't come. Not only my number but also the others didn't come. I had to do something because of the weather was getting dark. I went to starbucks, the cafe had a wireless. I thought , I could connect to internet and I could find there last news about Ireland bus service. Do you know Murphy's law? If you have heard before you know these rules really love this kind of situations. So as you can guess, my mobile phone didn't connect to internet!I was getting crazy because I was really feeling cold. And I phoned to my boy friend that from Turkey/İstanbul. I told him that situation and asked that if he was looking for the bus service page on the internet. He checked and said "your bus number is cancelled"!!! when I took that information I said to myself "Ok you can manage.. No panic! Count to ten slowly!"
I asked a man who is working in starbucks "How can I go to..blabla." . He gave to me some advices, "you can go with Luas and the nearest luas station is bla bla bla..". Then I went to bus stop where I waited a few minutes ago. I told to the people who were waiting for bus that the buses were cancelled this evening. Some of them believed me and gave up from waiting. But the others continued to wait. I thought about that group "Okey guys it's your choice! I hope that your bus will come from space!"
And then I went to Luas station. Tram transport's name is Luas in Dublin. I felt little bit scared because I had never used Luas before. Of course it was not big deal! I was a big girl! Firstly I must to buy tram ticket but there was no ticket office or something like that. I saw that the ticket system was automatic. It's mean is; you choose the place where you will get off and then push enter after that the machine says "how much money do you have to pay for ticket", insert coins to machine and finally it gives the ticket. I could manage this if I knew the station name where I would get off!! And I want to remind that the weather still was freezing and snowing non-stop! I asked somebody that "do you know blabla area" but he just looked at me with empty eyes! And a boy who is homeless and drunk heard me and he said "I know that area I can do steps about ticket for you"! I just inserted coins to machine. It was the boy who did the other steps. I had ticket but I was not sure that it's correct or not! As I said the boy was drunk :(
Tram came and I got on. And now you can guess, I asked to somebody again that "where should I get off". Oh thanks God, he knew the place where is my house. He said "you will get off blabla station and you will see a pub at left and go ahead, your street is left or right I'm not sure.." It was so uncomfartable case for me but I had to manage. The tram arrived to the station which I must get off, he said "you must to get off here". I thanked to the man who is from Philippines. I got off the tram and waved to Filipino :) And that moment I was completely alone! It was snowing and even there was no one of footprint in snow. I have some good news at here of story; that point was cross(Murpy's law was still working:))!! What I mean; you could go north, south, west or east! What was a nice surprise! And all directions were similar to each other. Houses were almost same type and there was no hint that "where am I" ! I knocked a house's door that is I saw light in house because I had no choice. And thank God again a nice old woman opened the door.It was risky action because a person who opened the door could be dangerous or something like that. Luckily, the woman was really nice. I said "I'm so sorry. I bothered you but I think, I'm lost..blabla.." . She said "oh my dear don't worry you're right place.not lost. straight ahead, you'll see some shops and then turn to second right..." . I thanked to the nice old lady :) I waved with thankfully to her too. She watched me for a while. And called behind me "be careful honey floor is icy.."
After that moment I was completely relax because I knew where I am. I walked slowly on the snow and enjoyed the view. Finally I arrived to my home after 4 hours! After a shower I prepared a hot chocolate for myself and I watched the snow behind a window and at my warm home..
